Feeling Plum

Three column, fluid width, very plain but quite easy to customise and make it your own. Copes well with large font sizes.

Note that although the top looks extremely purple from this screenshot, it’s not: it’s actually this:

The left-most column is “content”, the middle one is “news” and the right-most one is “nav”.

I recommend keeping the right-most one as site navigation, but there are lots of interesting things you could do with the middle one. It’s the perfect space to show off your cool plugins:

etc. there are tons of possibilities.

For a personal site, any of the above would be cool. For a more professional site, I think a “context aware” menu would be cool. ie. a different menu depending on if you were looking at the front page, a single article, a section, a category, etc. then stuff like dynamenus and section menu woud be good candidate plugins.

nb. I can’t vouch for most of these plugins. :) You can see the list of the ones I use at the About page.

Random Science Quote

"The difference between myth and science is the difference between divine inspiration of 'unaided reason' on the one hand and theories developed in observational contact with the real world on the other. It is the difference between the belief in prophets and critical thinking, between Credo quia absurdum I believe because it is absurd—Tertullian. and De omnibus est dubitandum Everything should be questioned—Descartes.. To try to write a grand cosmical drama leads necessarily to myth. To try to let knowledge substitute ignorance in increasingly large regions of space and time is science." - Hannes Alfven|H. Alfvén
